A New "ism" for Cindy

Cindy Sheehan (remember her?) wrote another asinine op-ed, "Matriotism", that was published on CommonDreams.org today. I took some Phenergan and then read the article (which was how if we practiced Matriotism instead of Patriotism, the world would be at peace.) Two things jumped out at me and were very enlightening.

First of all, Cindy finally puts her absolute hatred for America into words. No one can claim that she was misquoted or taken out of context. It's hard to take the following out of context:

"However, a Matriot also knows that when her country is wrong, it can be responsible for murdering thousands upon thousands of innocent and unsuspecting humans. A true Matriot would never drop an atomic bomb or bombs filled with white phosphorous, carpet bomb cities and villages, or control drones from thousand of miles away to kill innocent men, women and children."

or this:

"After the tragedy of 9/11 we were on our way to becoming a fledgling Matriotic society until our leaders jumped on the bandwagon of inappropriate and misguided vengeance to send our young people to die and kill in two countries that were no threat to the USA or to our way of life."

**Note to Cindy - The Taliban ruled Afghanistan. Al Qaeda was given safe harbor by the Taliban. Al Qaeda was responsible for the deaths of 3,000 Americans on 9/11 and many others in previous terrorist attacks (the USS Cole, the Embassy Bombings in Africa, etc.) Therefore they were a threat to the USA and to our way of life, as are any other terrorist organizations or nations that support terrorism.**

Cindy highlighted the "genocide of the Native American peoples" & the "Manifest Destiny" as evidence to Big Bad America. She called the "Star Spangled Banner" a "hymn to war". She also cited the recitation of the "nationalist Pledge of Allegiance" in schools as part of the brainwashing into Patriotism.

But Cindy isn't just guilty of anti-Americanism. She started out her little screed with the following:

"Much as I wish I could take credit for the word 'matriotism', another woman wrote to me and gave me the concept. I was so intrigued by the word that I have been meditating on the possible ideology behind it and a new paradigm for true and lasting peace in the world."

Sounds like the "guiding light of the peace movement" had a philosophical breakthrough and had come up with a new paradigm. Uh - Not so fast...

A little "googling" on the word Matriotism, pulled up an article titled "Matriotism for Mother Earth" by Elouise Bell on April 20, 2002. Bell's article on Matriotism was an excerpt from her book "Only When I Laugh". In Bell's article, she wrote "Matriotism, on the other hand, is yin to patriotism's yang".

Cindy, who never once cited Elouise Bell or Bell's writings, in her op-ed, wrote the following: "Matriotism is the opposite of patriotism...not to destroy it, but TO BE A YIN TO ITS YANG..."

Cindy needs to learn a new "-ism" - PLAGIARISM

So egotistical. It won't take her long before she thinks she not only created the insipid term, but how she is the epitome of it.

She's certifiable.
