Using Commencement Speeches to Spread the Anti-Bush Message

Why do Liberals believe that any public arena is an appropriate venue to voice your personal political viewpoints? Remember the funerals of Paul Wellstone and Coretta Scott King?

This time of year brings a plethora of commencement speeches by "famous" people. Instead of offering up the typical graduation "set your goals and reach for the stars" speech, some Liberals are using the stage to spout off their personal political opinion. John Murtha did so last week and got a stern talking to by a graduating Marine. Now add Jodie Foster to the self-important anti-Bush Hollyweird crowd. Here's what she told the graduating class at the University of Pennsylvania...

"But she struck a serious note later, saying the country and world are worse off than they were four years ago, and challenging graduates to change that."

"The United States "squandered" the goodwill and sympathy other nations offered after the Sept. 11 terror attacks, Foster said. She also criticized officials for the "disastrous and shameful" handling of Hurricane Katrina."

Memo to Liberal commencement speakers - This is not about YOU. This is not YOUR moment. This day belongs to the graduates and their families. It is their celebration and you are just an invited guest. So just give the damned speech and stop the political analysis.
