The "Religion of Peace" continues to show its true colors. More threats and more violence from Muslims in response to a quote the Pope used in a speech this week. Here's a round-up from yahoo.com...
"An Iraqi insurgent group threatened the Vatican with a suicide attack over the pope's remarks on Islam, according to a statement posted Saturday on the Web.
"We swear to God to send you people who adore death as much as you adore life," said the message posted in the name of the Mujahedeen Army on a Web site frequently used by militant groups. The message's authenticity could not be independently verified. The statement was addressed to "you dog of Rome" and threatens to "shake your thrones and break your crosses in your home."
"Morocco recalled its ambassador to the Vatican on Saturday to protest the pope's "offensive" remarks, and Afghanistan demanded the pope apologize."
"In West Bank attacks on churches, Palestinians used guns, firebombs and lighter fluid, leaving church doors charred and walls scorched by flames and pocked with bullet holes. Nobody was reported injured. Two Catholic churches, an Anglican one and a Greek Orthodox one were hit. A Greek Orthodox church was also attacked in Gaza City."
As if the above was not bad enough, Sheikh Abubukar Hassan Malin a prominent cleric in Somalia, has issued a "Salman Rushdie" against the Pope...
"We urge you Muslims wherever you are to hunt down the Pope for his barbaric statements as you have pursued Salman Rushdie, the enemy of Allah who offended our religion," he said in Friday evening prayers."
"Whoever offends our Prophet Mohammed should be killed on the spot by the nearest Muslim"
"We call on all Islamic Communities across the world to take revenge on the baseless critic called the pope," he said."
As I expected, there are many in the USA that are siding with the Jihadists in this current argument. The New York Times jumped feet first into the fray with an editorial today that makes one wonder - what planet do they live on?
"For many Muslims, holy war — jihad — is a spiritual struggle, and not a call to violence. And they denounce its perversion by extremists, who use jihad to justify murder and terrorism."
I'm still waiting on the denouncements from the "moderate" Muslims for the murder, torture and terrorism committed by their brethren. If the NYT has heard any, I wish they would print them. All I hear are crickets chirping...
You would think that even the far left would be incensed at the outrage from the Muslims. Think again. Their outrage is reserved almost solely for the Pope. Take Americablog for example. In addition to an extremely offensive picture of Mohammed Atta wearing Mickey Mouse ears on the front page, here's what they had to say about the Pope and Islam...
"Is the Vatican ever going to move on from being hate-mongers or is that going to continue being the focus of the Vatican?"
"Pope Macaca. He and Allen are of the same ilk. Just rabble-rousing racist bigots looking to benefit from stirring the pot."
"A slur against the world's largest religion from a Nazi Pope."
"How could anyone possibly be offended by a former Nazi in flowing robes, big hat and red Prada shoes insulting their religion?"
It was not much better over at Democratic Underground. Case in point some of the comments on this post and this one also.
"The unreformed Nazi bastard knew exactly what he was doing."
"Put a condom in it, Benny. He's as medieval as his words. The same guy who condemns millions to death by banning condoms and birth control to the poorest of the poor."
"It's crap like he spewed that makes more MODERATE Muslism start to think that Islamic radicals may actually have a point. Thanks a bunch, Pope Hitlerjugend."
"Publicly defaming another's religious beliefs is something that well-mannered people don't do."
[Okay - I had to laugh at that last one - the irony was just too much]
I've said it once and I'll keep saying it...
I salute the Pope for not tiptoeing around political correctness. It is a true picture of Islam when acts of barbarity, torture and murder are tolerated if committed in the name of Mohammed. Those concerned about the world's perception of Islam need to start speaking out about crimes against humanity committed by their brethren. Then and only then will the Muslim leaders have a right to complain about another person's statements.
As far as the Muslim demand for an apology - YOU. GO. FIRST.
