I first heard this driving home from work. One of our local talk radio stations canned its host and quit carrying Michael Reagan but now broadcasts CNN Headline News. Just listening to this report over the radio sans television images set my blood boiling.
Chilling scenes from a videotape made by insurgents show the work of snipers in Iraq, targeting and killing American troops, taking them down with a single bullet from a high-powered rifle.
The graphic video of 10 sniper attacks was obtained by CNN -- through intermediaries -- from the Islamic Army of Iraq, one of the most active insurgent organizations in Iraq.
When I heard this statement, I almost had to pull my car over to get control over my emotions...
And then, the crack of gunfire is heard and the soldier in the turret slumps forward.
"Allahu Akbar (God is Great)!" is the exclamation as the sniper's vehicle starts and they slip away.
Dear Lord - the poor family and friends of the soldiers that have been lost to sniper attacks don't have enough to deal with without this terrorist propaganda shoved in their faces? How in the HELL could anyone with a heart even think that this was news or appropriate for broadcast? We don't see the beheading videos or even the gruesome scenes from September 11, but we get this? But according to CNN, they did do this...
The moment when the bullet hits the soldier's head is blacked out. The soldier's face and unit patches were not clear, so identifying him was impossible, CNN said.
And THAT is supposed to make it okay? Get a freakin' clue for goodness sake!
It's not like this should really surprise us. CNN has quite a history of assisting with the dissemination of terrorist propaganda. Remember CNN's decision to not report on Saddam's torturous and murdering regime? Then there was this from a translation of one of the Iraqi documents courtesy of JVeritas at FreeRepublic...
"...it is possible to make a dialogue with the CNN channel to give them a priority on this subject to have an influence over the international arena and it will be accepted more than the Iraqi media."
Thank goodness someone in Washington DC is paying attention (from the LA Times)!
CNN has become "the publicist for an enemy propaganda film" by broadcasting a video showing an insurgent sniper in Iraq apparently killing an American soldier, the chairman of the House Armed Services Committee said here Friday. Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-El Cajon) called for the Pentagon to oust any CNN reporter embedded with U.S. troops in Iraq.
It is a documented fact that the terrorists use the United States media as one of the tools against America. Just this past spring US soldiers seized documents from Iraq that included a terrorist guide to using the media. The items were called "Baghdad Strategy" and "Baghdad State of Affairs". Here's a piece of the translation...
"The policy followed by the brothers in Baghdad is a media oriented policy without a clear comprehensive plan to capture an area or an enemy center. Other word, the significance of the strategy of their work is to show in the media that the American and the government do not control the situation and there is resistance against them. This policy dragged us to the type of operations that are attracted to the media, and we go to the streets from time to time for more possible noisy operations which follow the same direction."
Let's face the truth here. There was one and only one reason for CNN to show this piece of terrorist propaganda - to undermine the Republicans and President Bush. By showing snipers killing our soldiers, CNN sought to diminish American resolve to continue the fight in Iraq. More deaths of US soldiers means less support for the war. That translates into less GOP votes and maybe more Republicans staying home from the polls.
Well I got news for this so-called news organization. You have just awakened a sleeping giant called the Conservative base. Your little anti-American, anti-military tactics may have just sealed the victory for the GOP and blown any chance of a Dem Congressional takeover.
This is so much more than just a political issue. This is our future. Americans don't take lightly any attempt to play political ping-pong with our soldiers making the ultimate sacrifice. I hope you lose much more than just your embedded reporters. You have already lost any sense of decency. Shame on you. May you get all that you deserve.
