Words are not enough to express my profound thanks to all the veterans who have served our country honorably. On this day we honor your dedication, your service and your bravery. Thank you for protecting our freedoms.
These pictures are from Fort Stewart GA - home of the 3rd Infantry Division. The 3rd ID has served two tours in Iraq and will soon be deploying for a third. To honor each and every fallen soldier from Ft. Stewart (and any soldier attached to the 3rd ID), a redbud tree is planted along a memorial walkway on the base.
Eighty Seven 3rd ID soldiers were killed in action in the 2005 deployment. Forty Six were killed during the initial phase of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003. The trees are a sobering and beautiful reminder of the sacrifices our soldiers - that is why I chose to post these on this Veterans' Day.
And if you need any more of a reminder of what our great country stands for, listen to Red Skelton's Pledge of Allegiance. It is timeless and something that needs to be broadcast loud and clear every single day.
God Bless our Soldiers. God Bless America.
