Dems Grasping for New Talking Points on Iraq

You just gotta stand with your mouth open whenever you read anything about the Democrats and Iraq. NOW that things are looking better and the word is getting out that the surge is working, the Dems are frantic - they've gotta come up with some new talking points. The old "failure" and "Bush's fault" just aren't cutting it anymore.

According to the Washington Post Rahm Emanuel can't find anyone with weak knees regarding Iraq.

"I'm not finding any wobbliness on the war -- at all," Emanuel said.

He certainly isn't looking too hard. It wasn't THAT long ago that Reid was pronouncing the Surge a "failure" and the war "lost".

Rep. Jerry McNearney must have gotten some heat from his far left constituents because he started singing a different, less positive tune for the media...

Rep. Jerry McNerney (D-Calif.), who made waves when he returned from Iraq by saying he was willing to be more flexible on troop withdrawal timelines, issued a statement to constituents "setting the record straight."
"I am firmly in favor of withdrawing troops on a timeline that includes both a definite start date and a definite end date," he wrote on his Web site.

Then you have the Dems that claim that they would be more positive about the reports from Iraq but everytime they say something positive, those rascally Republicans turn it around on them...

Rep. Ellen O. Tauscher (D-Calif.), an Armed Services Committee member who is close to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), said many of her colleagues learned a hard lesson from the Republican campaign.

"I don't know of anybody who isn't desperately supportive of the military," she said. "People want to say positive things. But it's difficult to say positive things in this environment and not have some snarky apologist for the White House turn it into some clipped phraseology that looks like support for the president's policies."

Oh Dear Lord - the last thing the Dems want to portray is support for the President's policies no matter how much the negativity hurts our country or our national security. Oh and Rep Tauscher if you want to see people who don't "desperately support the military" take a look at IVAW, Vets for Peace, etc. Heck - just take a look at your comrades in the House (i.e. Murtha).

So what have the Dems come up with for their new talking point?

Of course an influx of U.S. troops has improved security in Iraq, but without any progress on political reconciliation, the sweat and blood of American forces has been for naught.

Mark my words - you're going to hear much more about the "political" situation in Iraq. Hillary started it in her speech at the VFW. Carl Levin carried the water for his party when he said Maliki should be removed from office. It will be the new "meme" for the Left.

Still - it has gotta be a bitter pill to swallow to realize that after investing all your political credits in the failure basket, you have nothing to show for it except an approval rating at 19%. All because their hatred of the President has clouded all rational thought. Once again the Left proves that it is on the wrong side of history. Couldn't happen to a nicer bunch!
