Had a little down time today so I was able to do some surfing around my favorite sites. Now I'm sorry I did. It must be "trash the troops" day because there is a plethora of stories about our heroes getting slimed. Here's a sample - but be forewarned. If you are in a good mood, reading these stories will turn that smile upside down...
Kill the Die-in
by William Kristol
Meanwhile, a motley crew of antiwar groups, including Iraq Veterans Against The War, CODEPINK, ANSWER, and MoveOn.org, are organizing a week of demonstrations in Washington beginning September 15. The "mobilization" will be kicked off with a "Die-In," sponsored primarily by ANSWER and Iraq Veterans Against the War (IVAW). As they explain, "IVAW is asking that participants in the Die-In/Funeral select the name of one of the almost 4,000 soldiers who have been killed in Iraq. You can select a family member, friend or someone from your city, town or state. Please bring a photograph of that person and a sign with his/her name on September 15."
Needless to say, the protesters who will be appropriating the names of soldiers and Marines killed in action have no intention of asking the permission of their families. But why should the families think their loved ones' sacrifices are being exploited in an unbelievably offensive way? After all, as one organizer explains, "The die-in will be led by an Honor Guard of Iraq Veterans Against the War who will simulate a 21-Gun Salute before taps is played to initiate the die-in."
** It's a good thing I can't be in DC on the 15th cause I would be staging my own personal puke-in at this disrespectful display by a bunch of socialist hatemongers.

The Man Behind The De Palma Smear: Mark Cuban Declares War On The Troops
Pat Dollard
Billionaire Mark Cuban has decided to put all of his weight behind a campaign to smear US troops in Iraq as “monsters’. Cuban has decided that De Palma’s film “Redacted” must be seen as the cornerstone of his and De Palma’s self-declared anti-victory campaign against America and her troops fighing in Iraq. Cuban’s company Magnolia Pictures will be bringing this propganda campaign to a theater near you this winter. According to a source close to Cuban, the decision for Magnolia to develop, finance and distribute the film was personally made by Çuban. Cuban has a full producer credit on the film, and DePalma shot it on HiDef video at Cuban’s request, in order for it to qualify as fodder for Cuban’s hi-def cable channel. ( In case you haven’t heard of him, billionaire Cuban owns the Dallas Mavericks and supports the campaign against Global Warming by travelling in his private Gulf Stream V jet. He also decided to distribute the 9-11 paranoid conspiracy “Truther” film, “Loose Change”.)
FYI - Mark Cuban has quite a history of anti-Bush, anti-American, anti-military causes...Hat tip to Debbie Schlussel
Weekend Box Office: Death of a President = More Re-Birth of Islamist BS
Mark Cuban, whose Landmark Theaters are showing the film nationwide, told me he's proud that he's showing the movie. That should tell you a lot about him. Maybe, one day, he'll show a movie where Muslims--as in real life--are actually the terrorists, and the movie doesn't ask you to sympathize with them a la his "The War Within."
"The War Within": NBA's Mark Cuban Produces Sympathetic Homicide Bomber Film (Blows up Grand Central)
"The War Within" is executive produced by the Danny Bonaduce of the NBA--Dallas Mavericks' owner, failed reality TV star, and loudmouth billionaire Mark Cuban. His HDNet Films, Magnolia Pictures, and 2929 Entertainment developed, financed, produced, and distributed the movie. Landmark, Cuban's chain of artsy-fartsy theaters, is showing the film nationwide.
**In other words - boycott the Dallas Mavericks and any of their merchandise. Don't give this ninnyhammer any more of your hard earned money.

Drinking. Brawling. Hurting.
By Sarah Stillman
Washington Post
(snip) Half a decade into the "war on terror," America's bars have become our barometers: instruments that measure the extent to which our veterans have been left to wrestle alone with substance abuse, anxiety disorders and other mental health problems after long tours in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The men and women who come back from the traumas of war "are often hyper-alert, quick to respond and susceptible to a loss of impulse control," says clinical psychologist Jeffrey Jay of the Center for Post-Traumatic Stress Studies in Washington. "The brain is actually altered by these experiences -- it's part of a survival mechanism, and it's very confusing for them
(snip) Three of the four most notorious troublemakers I've gotten to know at R.J. Bentley's are victims of TBI -- a silent disability that receives little of the public sympathy afforded the war's more visible amputees. And there's no snazzy Web site or government program that will undo cranial nerve damage or recover a personality that has fallen off the tip of its own tongue -- slow to remember, quick to violent outbursts, unrecognizable to loved ones.
(snip) On a recent night, I loaded up the car with TBI-afflicted friends, including Pete (who, for the record, is funny and smart and kind), and drove to a happy-go-lucky bar in Adams Morgan in the District, where the drinks come with cheerful pink umbrellas.... (snip)
FYI... This young woman who is enabling soldiers who are taking medications which have dire consequences when mixed with alcohol is no "troop supporter" despite claiming to have a boyfriend serving in Iraq.
Sarah Stillman, 21, enjoys rabble-rousing with groups like the Student Legal Action Movement, Critical Resistance, and the Yale Coalition for Peace. She edits MANIFESTA, a bi-annual feminist journal, and is writing a collection of essays about corporate globalization’s consequences for young women worldwide. She has lots of glorious armpit hair.

We must be doing a helluva job in Iraq cause the anti's are resorting to even more despicable tactics against the soldiers. Shame on them all.
