Just breaking from NC Times, we have the Investigating Officer's recommendation for Staff Sgt Frank Wuterich. Ware recommended all murder charges be dropped but that negligent homicide charges should be pursued in the deaths of 5 children and 2 women.
A Marine Corps official has recommended that murder charges be dismissed against a Camp Pendleton squad leader accused in the deaths of 17 civilians killed in the Iraqi city of Haditha two years ago.
The official, Lt. Col. Paul Ware, said in a recommendation obtained by the North County Times that rather than face murder charges, squad leader Staff Sgt. Frank Wuterich should be tried for the lesser offense of negligent homicide in the deaths of five children and two women.
"I believe after reviewing all the evidence that no trier of fact can conclude Staff Sgt. Wuterich formed the criminal intent to kill," Ware wrote in reference to the women and children. "When a Marine fails to exercise due care and civilians die, the charge of negligent homicide, and not murder, is appropriate."
Well there goes Murtha's "cold blooded murder" claim - flushed right down the crapper along with what was left of his reputation. Remind me - has anyone in Congress spoke out against Murtha's lies against active duty Marines?
Oh - and about those 5 schoolboys who were just minding their own business while heading to classes when the "evil Marines" gunned them down for no reason...
Five Iraqi men were the first to die when Wuterich shot them shortly after they emerged from a car that drove up immediately after the bombing. Ware recommends the charges in those deaths be dismissed, accepting Wuterich's statement that he believed those men were insurgents taking part in the attack.
The recommendations are off to Gen Mattis for his final decision. The final decision on Murtha is in though - he's a lying traitorous SOB who isn't worthy enough to lick dog poo off the Haditha Marines' boot. Hey Harry - come and get me for that one!
If you want to read more about Haditha and the cases from the beginning, type in "Haditha" in the search box. I've posted over 50 pieces about Haditha and that's just here on my blog. And don't forget Defend Our Marines where you get everything including links to the defense fund for these Marines.
