The Real Story About the Jena 6 - UPDATED

SCROLL FOR UPDATES

Driving in to work this morning I listened to Bill Edwards' interview with Craig Franklin, the assistant editor/photographer for The Jena Times. It was a great interview and Mr. Franklin gave us the inside story of the entire Jena 6 Incident and debunked many of the media-inflamed claims.

You can read Mr. Franklin's Chronological Order of Events beginning with the noose incident and continuing through the large rally led by The Justice Brothers. I encourage everyone to read the entire thing. It is a perfect example of the absurd one-sidedness of the media and how a victim gets tossed aside while thugs get sympathetic treatment in the media.

But don't expect to see this type of story in the mainstream media - it doesn't fit their template.

UPDATE 10/12/07 0830:
Looks like Mychal Bell, one of the Jena 6, is going to do 18 months for parole violation related to his participation in the attack against Justin Barker. From FOX News...

Mychal Bell, who along with five other black teenagers is accused of beating a white classmate, had gone to juvenile court in Jena on Thursday expecting another routine hearing, said Carol Powell Lexing, one of his attorneys.

Instead, state District Judge J.P. Mauffrey Jr. sentenced Bell to 18 months in jail on two counts of simple battery and two counts of criminal destruction of property, Lexing said.

Now keep this in mind when you read Sharpton and Bell's father's comments about this - Mychal Bell had previously been convicted 4 times for battery and destruction of property PRIOR to the beating of Justin Barker. Bell was on probation at the time of the beating. FOUR Prior Convictions...

He's locked up again," Marcus Jones said of his 17-year-old son. "No bail has been set or nothing. He's a young man who's been thrown in jail again and again, and he just has to take it."

Sorry Mr. Jones but you are damned right he has to take it. He violated THE LAW all by his little self.

Sharpton reacted swiftly upon learning Bell was back in jail Thursday.

"We feel this was a cruel and unusual punishment and is a revenge by this judge for the Jena Six movement," said Sharpton, who helped organize the protest held Sept. 20, the day Bell was originally supposed to be sentenced.

Cruel and unusual punishment? Come on Al - at least try to give the appearance of some moral integrity. This is not revenge - it is punishment for a parole violation. Point the finger of blame at Bell and those that offered excuses for this thugs behavior.

And about the media fanning the flames of racial tensions, the AP is STILL reporting false information about the case of the Jena 6.

Racial tensions began rising in August 2006 in Jena after a black student sat under a tree known as a gathering spot for white students. Three white students later hung nooses from the tree. They were suspended but not prosecuted.

Barker was treated for three hours at an emergency room but was able to attend a school function that evening, authorities have said.

Go back to the top of this post and read the truth from the Jena Times assistant editor. Contrast that with the snips from the AP article. Then tell me the media is not carrying the water for Sharpton and those quick to jerk their knees while crying "racist".
