The Politico has one of the best interviews ever with VP Dick Cheney. As usual Cheney pulls no punches and let's us know how he really feels about Congress, the War in Iraq and a multitude of topics.
By far the best comment is the one where he challenges the Dems lack of.... umm... shall we say "fortitude"...
Murtha “and the other senior leaders … march to the tune of Nancy Pelosi to an extent I had not seen, frankly, with any previous speaker,” Cheney said. “I’m trying to think how to say all of this in a gentlemanly fashion, but [in] the Congress I served in, that wouldn’t have happened.” But his implication was clear: When asked if these men had lost their spines, he responded, “They are not carrying the big sticks I would have expected.”
Lord have mercy - he absolutely OWNED Murtha and the Dems on that one. Rahm Emanuel responded with some catty little comment about the size of the President's "stick" which was truly a weak comeback. San Fran Nan pulled out her patented "stop the rhetoric" line...
“I am hopeful the president will tone down his rhetoric, put down his veto pen and work with Congress to make progress for the American people.”
Hey Nancy - Stuff It. After years of dealing with roadblocks and the crap heaped out by the Dems it is laughable to call on the President to "work with Congress". Congress has made it quite clear they are not interested in compromise or working together for the good of the country. Frankly I wish the President would just get down and dirty on the Dems and let the chips fall where they may. And while he's at it tell Nancy where she can put the veto pen. It certainly couldn't make things any worse.
Go read the whole article. It reminds me of the Cheney we saw during the debate with John Edwards. I think comparing Cheney to Darth Vader is perfect and certainly not an insult.
