Isn't it ironic that on the anniversary of the murder of over 3000 Americans and an attack on American soil, we're discussing military strikes in Syria to aid the rebels? If you only listen to the mainstream media or are just one of those headline skimming low information voters, you automatically say "yeah let's help out the guys trying to defeat a murderous dictator". But the truth is a bit deeper than many are willing or even care about going.
The truth of the matter is the Syrian rebels are NOT civilian citizens angry with their country's leaders. They are not a Syrian form of the "tea party" and are not freedom fighters. They are Islamists that are on a jihad to build their caliphate. The rebels are a mixture of various Islamic fighters from around the globe - chief among them Al-Qaeda.
What?? You think I'm just some crazy lady with a computer who has nightmares about black helicopters? Well read the testimony of Thomas Joscelyn to the House Committee on Homeland Security. Here's one damning snip-
"Al Qaeda does not control the entire rebellion, which is made up of a complex set of actors and alliances. However, al Qaeda and its allies dominate a large portion of northern Syria and play a key role in the fighting throughout the rest of the country. These same al Qaeda-affiliated forces have fought alongside Free Syrian Army brigades. There is no clear geographic dividing line between the most extreme fighters and other rebels."
And these are the rebels that we are now arming? Yes our CIA is shipping weapons, equipment, etc to Syria straight to the rebels. As a matter of face, we started shipping these weapons THIS WEEK!
So the President is contemplating military strikes against the Assad regime as a "warning" against the use of chemical weapons. Contrary to Sec Kerry and Obama's claims, there is NO conclusive evidence that the chemical weapons unleashed on Syrians were from the Assad forces. Common sense and history itself would lend one to believe that the chemical weapon attack was part of the "grand plan" of the rebels to rope the US into action.
So think about this on the Anniversary of 9/11 - the day Al Qaeda attacked our country - we are essentially arming our sworn enemy when we ship weapons to the rebels. If (God forbid) we end up in some kind of military action in Syria, we will be asking our soldiers to fight alongside Al Qaeda. Certainly I'm not the only one that has blood shooting out of their eyeballs just even imagining such a scenario.
On September 10, 2010, President Obama held a press conference. The Ground Zero Mosque was one of the top news items and a reporter asked the obligatory "are we at war with Islam" question. This was President Obama's response:
"We are not at war against Islam. We are at war against terrorist organizations that have distorted Islam"
Today the President attended memorials remembering the victims of the 9/11 terrorist attack. Last night he gave a speech talking up the reasons why we should help the rebels. Does anyone else feel like the world has not only stopped turning but has flipped inside out?
It's a slap in the face to all the families that lost loved ones on 9/11, the rescue workers and every single member of the military who has served in Iraq or Afghanistan. Do the words "aid and comfort to the enemy" still have any meaning?
