The 3rd ID from Ft. Stewart GA has lost one of its heroes. From the Savannah Morning News...
Pvt. Matthew Thomas Zeimer, 18, was one of two soldiers killed Friday by enemy fire in Ramadi, a stronghold of Iraq's Sunni insurgency. He was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 69th Armor Regiment and is the first soldier to be killed from Fort Stewart's 1st Brigade Combat Team, which entered Iraq last week.
He was kind of a proud peacock when he was in here," principal Bruce Clausen told the Billings (Mont.) Gazette on Monday. "He didn't balk about the opportunity to go to Iraq. He was red, white and blue from the inside out and wanted to do whatever he could to provide service to his country - and that was verbatim."
Zeimer is survived by his parents, Ned and Janet Seymour, and four siblings, including an 18-year-old twin sister.
Recently married, Zeimer wrote that he was looking forward to "a happy life at home with my wife and hopefully I can have children soon."
May God bless the family and friends of Pvt. Matthew Zeimer and hold them in His loving embrace. Thank you Pvt Zeimer for giving the ultimate sacrifice for our Country. You are a hero and will not be forgotten.
