A Free Speech Jihad

Thanks a lot CBS - your spineless cave-in to the "racemail" (Sharpton's version of blackmail) has set the stage for a full scale battle. Not only did you hand Sharpton and his ilk a big dose of power on a silver platter but you have opened the door for the libtards' mission against talk radio. Forget the fact that Imus was far from a conservative and an equal opportunity offender - he was a member of the evil cabal of talk radio. Since liberal talk radio can't cut it in the real world, the only way to get equal air time is eliminate the voices on the right - or at least muffle them.

Ex- sportscaster turned moonbat icon, Keith Olbermann, has been just giddy with excitement this past week. He literally drooled all over himself last evening when talking about the free speech jihad and the fantasy of taking down Rush.

Over at Media Matters, they have a list of potential targets and the contact info. Here's what MM has to say about their "big plan" in a post aptly titled "It's Not Just Imus"...

But as Media Matters for America has extensively documented, bigotry and hate speech targeting, among other characteristics, race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, and ethnicity continue to permeate the airwaves through personalities such as Glenn Beck, Neal Boortz, Rush Limbaugh, Bill O'Reilly, Michael Savage, Michael Smerconish, and John Gibson.

Why do I get the mental image of a group of moonbats sitting by their radios and televisions with their notepads made from recycled paper taking notes while praying for the "big scoop"?

And as all lemmings do, the inmates at the DUmp have jumped into the fray...

It is assumed that posters on this thread agree that recent statements by Rush, Beck, and Coulter are so incredibly offensive and intolerable that anyone who broadcasts or advertises on their networks should be targeted for allowing these people to remain on the air.

Now we must do it -- now, not some time in the future after they have time to establish a discourse that suddenly firing them bears no relation to what happened to other broadcasters recently. Either liberals want to establish a new standard or they don't. The new standard must be applied now or else it does not exist.

Let the mobilization begin. (snip)

These kinds of firing only happen when the networks are threatened with loss of revenue.
Until it reaches that stage, the controversy -- even putting Rush or Beck on probation -- is actually a revenue booster.

They have to be threatened with loss of revenue owing to specific comments they have made.
At the end of the day though, networks look at the bottom line, how much money are we making off these jerks. Convince the advertisers to pull out and take their money elsewhere, and you have them by the short hairs.

If the moonbats are able to recruit the racebaiters into this fight, they have of small chance of success (and I do mean "small chance"). But we must remain vigilant and be strong. We must fight back when the drumbeats get louder. This is another jihad that we cannot afford to lose.
