Col. Steven Folsom dismissed charges Tuesday against Lt. Col. Jeffrey Chessani after defense attorneys raised concerns that a four-star general overseeing the prosecution was improperly influenced by an investigator probing the November 2005 shootings by a Marine squad in Haditha.The charges were dismissed without prejudice, meaning they can be refiled, but Folsom excluded Marine Forces Central Command from future involvement.

I called Murtha's office and they said they haven't heard anything yet. I told them to check Fox News and asked when an apology would be issued. They hung up....

The Thomas Moore Law Center has an article up about the dismissal of charges. This statement pretty much sums up the whole Haditha investigation, not just the charges against Lt Col Chessani....

Richard Thompson, President and Chief Counsel of the Law Center, commenting on the judge’s decision had this to say, “We are all grateful for the judge’s ruling today. He truly was the “last sentinel” to guard against unlawful command influence.”

“Tragically, our own government eliminated one of its most effective combat commanders. The insurgents are laughing in their caves,” said Thompson.

The cover-up was totally predictable. Justice has died in Amerika, especially for our uniformed criminals.If there is no judgement of George and his cronies, can we really expect any for their hired hands?

There were way too many civilian casualties at Haditha to excuse or explain. Support for the troops has apparently resulted in zero justice for the victims.

The mods at DU have deleted the comment about the "rape animal troops" but I think they should have left it up. After all, it signifies what a lot of the DU'ers think about the troops as we've seen on numerous occasions.
