Yep – the Obama Administration and Congress really have their fingers on the pulse of the money gushing out courtesy of the Porkulus Bill. Only 3 Oversight Committee Members bothered to show up for a farce of a review called “Follow The Money II”. Follow the money? – more like fire up the money printing machines and ignore the sucking sound that has become synonymous with our economy.
Even worse (if you can believe it) was the assertion that US citizens are responsible for oversight in the eyes of this administration – that’s according to Earl Devaney, chairman of the Recovery Act Accountability and Transparency Board. While I believe wholeheartedly in citizens holding the government accountable, for this amount of money and all the promises made about transparency and oversight, the Obama Administration better damned well have an idea about who is getting what and the results of the pork money.
They can’t even get the transparency right. The much touted website “Recovery.gov” has yet to post info about the number of jobs saved and created so far. There was this little exchange according to the Washington Times
Mr. Broun was most interested in Mr. Obama's claim that the recovery plan would create "or save" 4 million jobs, but noted that the number of jobs "saved" is likely unknowable and that since the president took office, 1.3 million jobs have been lost.
"How do you plan to verify the actual number of jobs created?" he asked.
"Sir, we haven't really received any information about that on the Web site," Mr. Devaney said'
Dear Martha – we’ve got a geyser of OUR money emanating from DC with no one paying attention to it. But pay no attention to that because Obama is going to use the right words to make us all feel good. Right now I just feel sick.
