Honoring One of Our Heroes - Captain Matthew Freeman

Captain Matthew Freeman will be making his final trip home tomorrow (Wed). He is scheduled to arrive in Savannah around 3pm. The procession will leave the airport, follow Dean Forest Rd to Highway 17 and then turn right on Hwy 144 in Richmond Hill. The Patriot Guard Riders and the GA State Patrol will be escorting Capt Freeman and his family to Richmond Hill Funeral Home (also known as Cox Funeral Home). If you are anywhere near the area, please come out and show your gratitude for this hero's ultimate sacrifice. Bring your flags and the family has asked for everyone to wear red.

Some friends of Capt Freeman have started a Facebook page in his honor. You can get to it from here. There are some great pictures and lots of memories from his friends and loved ones.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting a donation to a scholarship fund set up in Capt. Freeman's name.

"Captain Matthew Freeman Memorial Scholarship" and send to:
Bryan Bank
PO Box 1299
Richmond Hill, GA 31324

And let's not forget to pray for the safety of all our Military men and women serving our country - not just those in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The picture above is a sign in The Laings' yard at the entrance to Capt. Freeman's parents neighborhood. It pretty much says is all. Neighbors and friends have lined the road to the Freeman's home with American flags. It is beautiful.
