CNN Airs President's Rehearsal - Only Network to Do So

UPDATE 5/15/06 @ 2053... Now CNN is blaming the glitch on NBC. It apparently wasn't a rehearsal but the President was cued to begin too early. Here's the info...

"NBC ran the pool for tonight's speech. In an e-mail to TVNewser, CNN D.C. bureau chief David Bohrman explained: "Their stage manager at the White House was listening the the wrong countdown and cued the President early."The internal "pool note" clearly explained that the "slate" with the Presidential seal would be kept on the pool screen until just five seconds before the beginning of the address. Instead, the slate was removed prematurely."

Too coincidental for me... CNN was the ONLY one to carry it.

This is beyond outrageous! Per Drudge...

CNN AIRS BUSH REHEARSAL LIVE; NETWORK CALLS MISTAKE
CNN aired President Bush rehearsing his immigration speech from the Oval Office on Monday night! The embarrassing images and audio [16 seconds total] captured the president starting and stopping his message, then looking at the White House media advisor for direction. "The president is rehearsing and the network pool inadvertently went to the president as he is rehearsing," anchor Wolf Blitzer explained. FOXNEWS, MSNBC, CBS, ABC and other outlets did not air the rehearsal. The slip comes just six months after CNN mistakenly placed a bold black 'X' mark over Vice President Cheney's face as he gave a speech.

There is no excuse for this. This was a deliberate attempt to embarrass the President of the United States. CNN can cry "inadvertently" all they want but NO OTHER network aired the rehearsal. I demand that heads roll on this one - and not some schmuck in the Control Room. This needs to reach all the way to the top.

I would encourage everyone to boycott CNN but judging from their ratings, it looks like people already are...
