FoleyGate Update - Parents Speak & The Gay Avenger Wants a SitDown with Dr. Dobson

The parents of the young man who received the EMAILS that started the FoleyGate avalanche have issued a letter. CNN has the entire letter posted but there is one very interesting passage.

In the fall of 2005, as soon as Congressman Alexander became aware of the e-mails received by our son, he called us. He explained that his office had been made aware of these e-mails by our son and that while he thought the e-mails were overly friendly, he did not think, nor did we think, that they were offensive enough to warrant an investigation.
Rather, we asked him to see that Congressman Foley stop e-mailing or contacting our son and to otherwise drop the matter in order to avoid a media frenzy. He did so. If we had any other knowledge or evidence of potential impropriety, we would have asked for the matter to be treated differently. For instance, we were not aware of the instant messages that have come to light in the past few days.

So based on the parents' statement the situation was handled exactly as THEY wanted it. The parents were satisfied with the action taken. Plus their recollection follows right in line with Hastert's recollection. Now because of a political vendetta, they ARE involved in the media frenzy that they tried to avoid.

CNN is also looking for more lurid Foley to Page contact. Now tell me how this is going to clear things up. Every whack job and their brother will be filling up CNN's in-box with faked sex stories. Talk about an asinine approach to journalism...

If you are a current or former congressional page, did you interact online with former Rep. Mark Foley? Forward e-mail and instant messages that Rep. Foley may have sent you. CNN will only use material that it can verify as authentic and can not guarantee that all submissions will be used.

It's not a political issue either. CNN just happens to have this posted under their Elections 2006 section. GEEZ...............

One of the members of the Gay Avengers has a press release posted at US Newswire proclaiming his "exclusive" interview with one of the pages involved.

Mike Rogers, the nation's top gay activist blogger, has posted on his blog at http://www.proudofwhoweare.org excerpts from an interview with a member of the class of congressional pages who have been confirmed to have been harassed by or stalked by former Congressman Mark Foley (R-FL). Rogers is available for further comment on the unfolding scandal. [yeah I just bet he is]

I decided to take a trip to Proud of Who We Are to tour the facilities. I was decidedly shocked. Can you imagine the amount of utter gall it takes for a Gay Activist who threatens closeted homosexuals in politics if they don't vote his "gay way", to pander to religious leaders and leaders of the Religious Right? I kid you not - Rogers has letters up over at POWWA asking for a "come-together to get rid of Hastert and Reynolds" meeting with the likes of Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council and Dr. James Dobson.

If you ever wanted to see hypocrisy in action, check this out. This is an excerpt of his letter to Perkins and Dobson...

His behavior is a blight on my community, and I, like you, don’t want predators like Mr. Foley in Congress, regardless of whether their targets are young men or young women.

So, for now, we have a shared interest in purging this moral cancer from Congress. Therefore, I am calling on you to join me in demanding that Dennis Hastert step down as Speaker of the House for covering up for Mr. Foley. By joining forces, we would speak across the ideological spectrum for the sort of action that would send a powerful signal that this sort of politically driven cowardice is not going to be tolerated.

Then there is THIS letter to Buffalo Religious Leaders. Rogers wants to team up with them also...

"I am first and foremost concerned for the young victims of Mr. Foley’s advances, and any other young people who might be similarly targeted in the future. I am certainly troubled for our democracy, when our elected leaders cover up behavior that Mr. Foley himself worked to criminalize, for partisan political advantage. I am also concerned that his behavior is a blight on my community that could lead to further discrimination against gay people in public life.
I hope you join me in my call for a non-partisan approach to this matter. The safety of America’s children is at stake, as is the public belief in Congress, which started out at rock-bottom levels even before the news about Rep. Foley broke."

On My Goodness.... Concern for the Young Victims??? This from the guy that knew about the emails but held onto them until closer to the Midterm Elections?

Non-partisan approach? From the guy who was tooting his horn all over the place about his role in the FoleyGate avalanche? The same guy that wrote this....

"I can say this. I had the emails before they were on the net. Additionally, I had the additional emails, written by the page to a friend. The story was being written by a number of outlets and I provided additional information to reporters involved in the breaking of this story. Was the central figure in reporting on Foley's latest scandal? Never said I was. Was my work on the case important to helping make sure it came out before the election? Yes."

Give me a freakin' break already. I'm sure Dr. Dobson and Mr. Perkins are gonna jump at the opportunity to work with Rogers. Here's hoping that the DOJ and FBI decide that THEY want to sit down over coffee and donuts with Mr. Rogers. Especially since he threatened a US Senator with "outing" if the Senator voted for Judge Alito's confirmation...
