Debunking the Dancing Imam's Claims

Thursday night Hannity and Colmes had an interview with Imam AL-Husainy, the one that delivered the controversial prayer at the DNC Winter Meeting. The interview was a farce - the Imam didn't answer a single question. He offered up a better tap dance than Fred Astaire. But Alan Colmes did get the Imam to admit a few little tidbits...

COLMES: All right. I want to get to what Sean asked you, though, which is when you said occupation — this is the subject of great controversy. When you used the word "occupation" when you spoke to the Democratic National Committee, in your mind were you thinking about the occupation of Iraq? Was that what you were referring to when you used that word?

AL-HUSAINY: Actually, that is true, because most of the candidates were talking about pulling our troops from Iraq after they've done the good job of liberating Iraq and to stop the occupation. And actually, I was supporting that approach and supporting the Democratic approach which is not against Muslims.

Hold on there... the Imam admitted that he was talking about the "occupation of Iraq". So the Dems just stood there with their heads bowed in fake piousity while the Imam denounced the USA. Hmmm....

Colmes then got the Imam on the record about Hezbollah and the anti-Israel rallies in Dearborn...

AL-HUSAINY: That is false. First of all, I've never been in Washington for that, sir.
Second, we were in Dearborn, and Dearborn is about a quarter million of Middle East people, Muslims and Christian and Arabs and Jews. As a matter of fact, on my right side was a rabbi, on my left side were priests, and we were all together going for the sake of peace, for the sake of ceasefire, for the sake of...

COLMES: Were these rallies in support of Hezbollah?

AL-HUSAINY: As a matter of fact, if the Jewish will have a peace rally, I will attend to them.

COLMES: I attend. Were they in support of Hezbollah?

AL-HUSAINY: No, actually, everybody have different interpretations. But our interpretation — I was responsible on (UNINTELLIGIBLE) — our interpretation is for peace. We're praying for peace and cease-fire in the Middle East for all sides to stop the killing of innocent people and the bombings.

Hey Imam - it's kinda hard to misinterpret signs like the one that you were holding during the July 2006 march in Dearborn...

"Judaism Rejects Zionism and the State of Israel"? Why don't I buy your claim that you would attend an Israeli peace rally?

The group that the Imam is marching with is the Neturei Karta. According to the Neturei Karta's website...

Neturei Karta opposed the establishment of and retain all opposition to the existence of the so-called "State of Israel"!

The Rabbis of Neturei Karta went to a little conference in Tehran a few months ago. They got to meet with the host of the Holocaust Denial Conference...

Here's the caption for the above pic...

Tehran, IRAN: Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (R) meets 14 December 2006 with US rabbi Ahron Cohen (2nd L), from the anti-zionist Neturei Karta group (Orthodox Jews United against Zionism), following a two-day conference on the Holocaust in Tehran. Iran held earlier this week a conference casting doubt on the Holocaust, attended by a host of Western Holocaust deniers. The Islamic republic described the event as a scientific forum to examine questions posed by Ahmadinejad, who has repeatedly cast doubt on the truth of the mass murder of millions of Jews by the wartime German Nazi regime. Mix in a little marching in support of Yassar Arafat and I just have a serious problem with the Imam's calls for world peace. More Taqquiya from the Religion of Peace... Yep - the Dems truly have our country's best interests at heart.
